THE PROJECT

The concept is simple. Over a timespan of 50 days, Dutch music artist and producer STRX travels throughout Nepal to create music with people from local tribes all over the country. All music is created with the local instruments, stories and athmosphere as a foundation. The journey is documented and the music will be released to the public after the project is finished. During the project, money is fundraised for Nepali education.

WHY we need project nepal

Music connects. It’s a universal language that goes past our boundaries. As an artist, this - the ability to connect on a deeper level with people all over the world - is what makes me live and breathe music. In the past 50 years however, the world has never been more divided than today. With algorithms creating echo chambers and media silencing masses, it’s like people don’t see each other anymore. That’s why I think - now more than ever - we need to break barriers through the power of music. Because in times like these, what would it mean to truly listen? Maybe we’re not so different after all?

Project Nepal is a cultural, musical and social project that highlights how music breaks boundaries and connects us. By amplifying voices of the unheard through music, we strive to show the true power of music as a universal language to find connection.  The project goes against the wave of commercialised music by prioritising social impact above commercial value. why nepal

Nepal: a country incomprehensably complex, yet stunning. With 142 tribes speaking 123 different languages, it’s hard to truly fathom the profound intricacy of Nepal’s culture. Moreover, The country boasts an extensive spectrum of biomes, stretching from its southern countryside to the lush jungles, culminating in the towering heights of the Himalayas.

As a result of its diversity and intensity, Nepal’s environment serves as both a wellspring of remarkable richness and a crucible for countless societal dilemmas, one of which is the sheer difficulty of profiding solid infrastructure throughout the country. As a result, many tribes and ethnic groups live in isolation.

As an artist with a deeply rooted passion for culture, these factors made me incredibly curious dive into these cultures and subcultures. What are their stories? How do they define music? What can we learn? And how does music allow us to connect, despite our many differences? It’s time to find out!

THE JOURNEY

By traveling with a collection of audio recording equipment specifically designed for Project Nepal, we are given the unique chance to record high quality audio in even its most remote areas, enabling us to discover, explore and collaborate in a truly unique way.

Throughout our 50 day journey starting from november 2nd 2023, we will be traveling through a wide variety of locations, and will hereby encounter a wide scala of environments with each their own tribes and subcultures, with each their own musical styles and influences.

social impact

Our slogan “BREAKING BARRIERS” is a testament to our vision of using music as a tool to break down barriers and inspire positive change all around the world. Projects like these help us understand the world around us, the people, the cultures, and it connects us through music. But a project like this would not be completed without fighting for the people that made it possible in the first place: the Nepali.

As Project Nepal is completely NON-PROFIT, we want to donate all our proceeds to a cause we can collectively fight for. A big challenge in Nepal lays in its education, and to help enable the next generation to pursue their dreams, we would like to donate to Nepal’s education. To make sure our money reaches the right people, we are collaborating with “Friends For Nepal” - who will use our donations to hire an expert teacher that will educate Nepali children in the poorest regions of Nepal through practical educational projects. Our fundraising goal is €2000 and will fund this expert for a year. See how you can help below!

In Project Nepal, we are fighting to make a difference. But we can’t do this on our own! Do you want to help out?

how you can help

To keep things simple yet effective, we created three ways in which you can support the project, so everyone can help our - regardless of their age or financial situation. The first way is by directly donating to our fundraiser. The second option is to buy our merchandise! The proceeds of the merchandise will be split equally between a donation towards the fundraiser, and an investment towards a sequel to Project Nepal. That way, the succes of this project can not only help our current cause, but it will also enable us to create similar projects in the future, giving us the chance to inspire even more change. The third and last way is by following and sharing our journey on social media, so our message can reach more people. Following and sharing is entirely free, and it will help out tremendously!

about STRX

Producing and performing under his alias STRX, Noah Strik creates music that sparks conversation about identity and belonging through adventurous, adrenaline inducing bass music. Using dystopian elements in his lyrics and music, STRX writes and presents music in a confronting yet eye-opening way, weaving profound narratives that captivate the listener. His music confronts the senses, eliciting deep emotional connections that resonate with audiences on a personal level.

Through his music, STRX endeavors to bridge the gaps between people worldwide, unveiling our hidden similarities, by exposing how our deeply personal thoughts and emotions unite us all, transcending borders and boundaries.

Taking inspiration from authentic cultural elements because of his deep passion for culture and travel, his unique blend of organic and authentic elements with distorted, electronic sound design is what truly sets STRX apart in the music scene, as the messages of his music are often carried by real world stories behind the organic elements in his productions.

Background

From a young age, it was quickly exposed how STRX was one of those not fitting the system. From the many clashes of his identity and societal norms, he knew a brutal journey was ahead, along which he was shown vast imperfections of our system that ultimately lead to his bold decision of dropping out of high school at age 17 to pursue his destiny:  making and performing music. Directly after, Noah was accepted into “Rockacademie” music academy in Tilburg.

The innumerable clashes of identity with the system were what ultimately pathed the way for the deeply loaded musical blend of athmosphere and tension he is currently known for. Throughout his years in music academy, STRX started releasing music that was picked up fast, resulting in releases on top tier labels like Dim Mak and Trap City. Now, with over 4 million streams and DJ support by various TOP 100 DJs and freshly out of graduation after his succesful showcase in 013 Poppodium, STRX comes in swinging with his upcoming “Project Nepal” - a testament to the vision and message of his music, immediately setting his mark in the music scene.
